Good to see such dedication. Is that a Messerchmitt (sic) bubble car in the garage ?

8) well spotted Richard

Yes you are right....Messerschmitt KR200..... my other fav car

I have 2  - the white one is 1959 which I bought in 1974 - the yellow and black one is also 1959 which I aquired last year after trying to buy it 25 years ago - its one family owner with 13k miles on the clock - shame it was brush painted (albeit quite well) in the past

Roll on the warmer weather

What a quirky but totally delightful machine the Mes... is. I tried to purchase one way back when I was 15 - shame I didn't...

I'm also about to reunite my Sprint dhc to its new chassis - wish me luck!

Trying to go the 26R headlight route

I couldn't get my head around the TT fixing kit so I bolted the headlight pods to the inner wing with spacers to get the right angle and then moulded the pods in with fibreglass - they are well fixed now ! - I took lots of time on measuring to get both sides the same.

My next problem is the perspex covers seem too small for the gap (lengthways) to I am still working out how to solve this one - any suggestions welcomed

When I get it right I will post some pictures

cheers

Richard

I was lucky that my spyder chassis was in good condition.....even had the delivery label for "Performance cars Hounslow (1984)" in good nick stuck on the backbone. Hence only light reburb needed plus new suspension etc......everything lined up an the actual lift and placement only took 10 mins with all bolts lining up.

I guess with the new chassis you will have a few more issues with line up's. I did a new chassis on an S2 back in 1974 but can't remember any major probs

Anyway good luck

cheers

Progress slow due to SWMBO wanting household jobs done :(

.........but today fitted my S1 lights.

Cutting out the holes in the rear panel was a bit nerve racking

Chris

Its a real shame Lotus decided to use those ugly rectangular rear lamps to the sprints - they should have kept the round lamps as you have fitted - very nice and wish I had the guts to do the same!
