I have a Lotus Elan S4 which has been heavily modified and fitted with a late Ford, 711, engine. Can anyone tell me what the torque settings should be for the big ends and main bearing caps? heer
Failing that, has anyone got a Lotus Elan manual to hand? In which case please can you let me know what the standard Lotus engine torque settings should be? Hoping to put the engine back together tomorrow if someone replies!
Cheers!
Paul

Standard engine torque settings from my manual are ~
Crankshaft - main bearing caps......55 -60 lbs.ft. 7.60- 8.29 kg.m
Connecting rod (big ends) caps.......44 -46 lbs.ft. 6.08- 6.36 kg.m
These torqe settings are for the `c` type caps
`l` type caps.......... 25 lbs.ft 3.45 kg.m
Sorry I can`t find the difference between `c` & `l` caps.
Regards, John.
