Thanks Briggs for printing out the two items of Spyder news which Yahoo
edited out of my posting. Can anyone explain in words of one syllable, or
less, how to send attachments to the list without them being removed en
route?

I opened them in Word and cut and pasted. I figured that Yahoo had
"cleansed" your messages.

Does any one know if you actually need all of this? if you are
changing a chassis and can keep all the standard suspension / diff
then the unique Zetec parts are not too bad ,especially if you don't
have a servicable twincam anyway, this could get a few basket cases
back on the road.
Also does this mean you can use a Ford MT75 gearbox in a spyder
chassis with the twincam engine?

Regards
Kevin

I have asked Spyder these very questions via email and await their reply.
For one who has a new Spyder chassis and 2 Zetec engines I am keenly
interested in thier response.

I had spoken to Spyder several months ago about the installation of a Zetec
in an Elan. Having a Zetec engine just waiting for something to do I
decided that I would make an attempt to install in the Elan. I spoke to
Andy at Spyder and this is what I recall.

The motor mounts, trans mounts, diff mounts locations may be different than
the stock frame. Also, since they have opted to utilize the MT75, the frame
is modified at what Andy called the WEB (area where the "Y" meets the
backbone). They moved the WEB toward the rear an inch or two. While it
would be nice to "drop in" the Zetec with a pre-engineered setup I opted for
the do-it-yourself route.

I am waiting for my Spyder frame to arrive within the week. Then it will be
a matter of fitting things up, deciding how much to spend to get the HP up
(need to determine how much is enough) and then decide how to get the rest
of the drive train capable of handling the new power.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has, or is, embarking on a
similar journey.

If you have'nt already seen it the web site below may be usefull to
you, many of my collegues with caterhams are pleased with the service.

They specilize in Zetec and Zetec upgrades for rwd applications.
