Self opening bonnet (hood)

Can anyone who owns an S4/Sprint who's bonnet (hood) does *not* fly open
at 90mph, please measure the distance between the bulkhead and the point of
the latches for me? The instructions in the shop manual are typically
useless.
It was amusing the first time it happened, but I have now tired of this
particular quirk, as it happened yeaterday just where the road took a steep
down grade and I could not see the road over the edge of the open bonnet!!
It could be worse, a colleague of mine driving in to work today in the 3rd
lane of the motorway had his cam belt let go at 85mph with two lanes of
trucks between him and the hard shoulder, he left bits of his crank and sump
across three counties (I though that Diesels were built to last).
Cheers,
Pete

HI, gave up trying to adjust the catches. Fitted some very small bonnet
securing pins.

A common problem with the Elan bonnet catch is that the release wire is too
short/needs adjusting and the catch does not move far enough to engage in
the "high quality" catches mounted onto the bonnet. Check the travel of the
cable release and the condition of the bonnet side of the catches.
Hope this helps

I have found that by bending the clips slightly (if you bend them to far
they catch on the underside of the bonnet, very hard to open then) and this
fixes the problem.
