Damper fixing

PostPost by: davidallen » Mon Mar 20, 2006 9:03 am

Hi,

I am re-assembling my front suspension, and I was wondering by how much I
should tighten the top and bottom locknuts. I could just tighten them up
until they bottom out, fully compressing the rubber bungs. Is this correct?

The car is fitted with Spax dampers if it makes any difference.

Cheers,

David

I just tightened them until there were a couple of threads clear of the
nyloc.

They only need to be tightened until the rubber is slightly compressed.
Too tight and you will make the suspension harsher and ruin the
rubbers prematurely.

The nyloc will stop them from coming undone.
