Plating Cost

PostPost by: brassringfarm » Tue Jul 12, 2005 8:27 pm

When I redid my Lotus, the chrome was bad, so I took it to our local industrial
chrome shop tht specializes in cars. The had done my AH3000 bumpers which
were beautiful, so I had all the Lotus parts done for about $6-700. After
etching, filling pits, buffing, and then 5 layers of metal: (2 Copper,1 Nickel,
and 2 Chrome (1 dull and 1 bright)) - the parts are 400% better than new.
No problems with the sub-base pot metal stuff Lotus used. I'm in Europe and
can't find their number for some reason. SO do a search under my name and
plating. About 2 years ago. Believe it was PG Products - Cincinnati. These
are a full size professional shop. All they do is plating.
No relation, blah blah blah.

There are two good shops in Houston. One reasonable near Hobby Airport and
one more expensive that does Jay Leno's bike work. The latter's first name
is Craig but I don't know his business name.
