Roadster hood stowage

Didn't get much response to my query on hood stowage for my S2. Does
everyone with a roadster just put the bits and pieces on the boot floor
like I do?

Seems the bows and window surrounds mount above the tail lights somehow
but the hood is too big to go in the space between the strut towers.
Would love some photos of an original setup if anyone has them.

I am also missing the bracket that supports the boot lock, anyone have a
photo of one of those so I can make one?

Yes I store mine flat in the trunk/boot. Does the tonneau have a place to
go when the top is up? I can check my handbook it should show something, if
you haven't. I can take some pics of the lock when I get home tonight.

Thanks Fred - I store my tonneau behind the seat, never even thought
there might be a 'right' place for it. I bought a repro handbook for
mine in 1989 when I was in England (why didn't I think of looking in
there?), I will check mine also. Would really appreciate the photo.



Thanks Paul - that's it exactly. I have the mount near the lock but the
bracket is missing. Fred has offered to take a photo of his but a shot
of yours would also be a good reference if it isn't too much trouble.



What is the 3/16 wire you talk about? Pretty sure mine doesn't have
that? Would be interested in that too.

I have owned my 1963 1600 (S1) since new. I took delivery from the factory with the tonnue cover on and the hood stored in the boot this way.

The side window frames are held captive between the rear suspension towers with a rubber strap supported at each end by the fixed end bolts of the boot hinges that they hook into.
To store the hood itself it is folded over on each side on the fabric portion between the main rear plastic glazing and each side window, the folds will roughly line upwith the ends of the front hood edge "stiff strip" that inserts the windshield top frame groove. Once it is folded this way then it is rolled-_from rear to front to protect the plastic window material-(I have always rolled mine in a towel to protect the plastic glazing from damage). The resultant "tube" that the hood forms stows between the top of the rear tail light metal guards and the rear underside boot lip with the top bowsand is held in place the 2 straps provided at each inside boot tail lite location.
My hood has been stowed this way for 40 years, is origional and is in good shape still.
No intrusion into the trunk, lots of room for a case of Canadian beer, toolbox and the Ladies kit bag..

Thanks Bill. Great description, it all makes sense now. Never thought
of rolling the hood up. Now I will be able to take my beer and ladies
kit bag when I go out in the Lotus.
