What a bit of kit

Fortunately no. It belonged to my brother in law who bought it in 1975.
It's crude body and suspension wise but that engine pulls like a train
and sounds brilliant.

Does the Capri have any racing history. In Europe I ran against them in
Group 1 in my Vauxhall Firenza. Damn quick they are.

Based on tidbits of info here and there, yours is one of the lists I was
looking forward to seeing. You holding anything back?

Art,

I know I have too many. Didn't you note how many are "awaiting restoration"or "in restoration". But I'm hoping to retire in fewer than 10 years and if I can afford to do it, the rest will get restored. It's hard to believe the paint on my Elan SS will be 20 years old this fall. Seems only yesterday. Just last December I realised another milestone. I was amazed in December1985, the the PO of my Lotus Eleven had owned it for 18 years. That was longer than all the other 7 put together. Last December I matched his tenure. But what a neat car to be caring for.

And the Austin hasn't been driven since 1964 or 5. I lost interest when I had to have something dependable to get me to work and college and dates, not that a Fiat 600 could ever be called dependable. The Fiat made way for a TR3 and that went away about the same time as the 1st Elan appeared. But the Austin and Dad's T are really what started my compulsion and when Dad's estate had to be cleared, I couldn't leave them behind. Then also think backabout what the 1st Lotus cars were; right, hopped up Austin 7's.

2000 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
2002 Subaru Legacy L SE Wagon (the Lotus & Mini towing vehicle)
1976 Leyland Mini (built to 998 Cooper specs)
1964 Lotus Elan S1 (feverishly awaiting restoration)

It's interesting to see just how many Subaru's are part of this Lotus
Clan.

1988 Mustang GT - 208k miles and rusting through. It's been a great car for
17 years but has been relegated to the beater/grocery/lumber hauler.

1979 Fiat Spider 2000 - I just can't love it, so I will be giving it backto
my brother as a wedding present since his fiancee kind of misses it.

1969 Elan S4 DHC - my toy car and favorite. Tons of smiles every time I
drive it

2002 Corvette Coupe - the highway and long distance car. You can't beat a
$38,500 car (dads $9000 retiree discount, $2000 rebate and 2.9% financing)
that has that much performance, storage and gets close to 30 mpg on the
highway.

1905 Oldsmobile Straight Dash Runabout - strickly speaking My Father's
Oldsmobile, but I need to bring it to my house soon to get it's restoration
going again.

The Fiancee's family's cars:

2003 Ford Focus SVT 3 door - she wanted a fun great handling car that her3
year old son and I could go places in since I really don't have a good 4
seater.

1969 Alfa Romeo GTA Jr. - well actually it is her dads, but it will someday
be hers since it is her favorite, and it is a permanent part of the family.

1968 Alfa Romeo Roundtail Spider - again her dads car, and it will someday
be her sisters, but we get to drive it when her parents aren't.

2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata - Her dads daily driver, but sometimes we can drive
it.

2003 Ford Escape - her poor mom gets the tow vehicle for the GTA, but since
she would not give up the Alfas she is ok with that. We used it for trips
too.

Roger

Sounds like fun, I am trying to find time for a garage addition to.

To much stuff I guess.

Then, there is the 47 year old 35 ft. wooden fish boat (built by Japanese craftsman / shipwrights out of now unobtainable clear, old growth red cedar and gum wood) that makes such a great Gulf Island cruiser that has to be kept afloat.

I loose 3 months a year to that sweet thing, 5 months counting cruising. Retirement doesn't help, you still run out of time.

Keep your stick on the ice!

I get to drive the family taxi, the wife gives her old Subaru
to the daughter and orders an new Elise. Sometimes life isn't quite
fair. So I countered with the Elan. I wasn't planned that way per say,
but is often tossed out that way; "I get a lotus so you have to buy
one too." so I go with that scenario. :)
Mine has been planned for years. I've wanted one since the
late 60's, finally conditions were right to go racing again. Hers was
more of a surprise, to me and to her I think, last fall when she
started looking for a new car. Of course I help by offering Autoweek
and Road&Track reviews when I found them. ;) At least with the Elise
in my garage I just _might_ get to drive it occasionally. ;)
