Can I buy just the body? (Never mind. After going on his website and looking at more detailed photos I see this isn't possible).

I'd been thinking off this approach path for years, watching the use of 3d scanning to make forms/moulds in yacht building as I think it looks the business, not for resale but just for me!! Scan then off to eastern Europe for the forming....or a its recreation maybe even fibreglass!

Just a way of make a ? 100,000 profit for a car that will NOT be able to run the in the proper events as its not an original and will not be eligible for Goodwood. TT will make a good profit from the parts . I doubt any one will be daft enough to buy one.
Even the HSCC Guards Trophy specifically says " Continuation cars or replicas are not eligible "
There are lots of nice racing original Elans for sale for a 1/3 of the cost with a proper racing history with a proper ID
An original 26R is not yet ? 200K so you would buy the 'proper' car and race in CSCC Classic K or HSCC Guards Trophy. Or you would get an entry to the CSCC Swinging Sixties races with your new IWR fast back but you would look silly being beng pased by a tweaked S3 Elan with a 1850 engine that probaly cost ? 8k to buy a few years ago and then ? 10k convert to race spec plus a lot of hard work.
