Hi All,
On behalf of a friend who is looking for as much info on the history of Modsports from the 70's through to the 80's to convince Italian race officials that this could be classified as a Historic event category I would love to receive some photos of the past in the above period.
Also another question...My mate will be fitting a BDA engine and would like to know if anyone has ever fitted a Hewland gearbox in the place of the diff ??
Thanks
Gino

Gino,
Over the past couple of years, here in the UK, there have been folks working towards reviving Modsports as a Historic racing class. I think that there have been a few races but the grids were quite small. Given the way things have gone in other classes, it will improve, as more cars emerge from hiding.
I do not have the tech knowledge to answer your Hewland question but, every Hewland box I have seen has been on the back of a rear engine; I can't think of a remote application but- hey, I'm usually wrong. And.... thinking about it; even if it were possible, I don't think it would have fitted in with the Modsports regulations back in the day.
