Oulton Park Gold Cup weekend

The Gold cup is on at Oulton Park this weekend. Practice tomorrow and racing Sunday and Monday. Plenty of Elans appear in the entry list. I'll be there all weekend, although weather forecast does not look brilliant on Sunday. Looks like DHC on Saturday and the Zetec on Sunday.

You lucky bugger. I enjoyed the weekend (well the Saturday actually) I spent there with CLOG.
Don't forget to post some pictures of all of the Lotus there
Have a good 'un.

I'm still on track for Bank Holiday Monday - tyres are being fitted to the Minilites today and am hoping to do a few miles tomorrow before making the 30 mile trip to Oulton! This will be the longest trip in the Elan since the 1980s, hoping the rain holds off.
MIne is a Lagoon Blue FHC Sprint with tatty paint work - so if you see a Sprint matching this description by the side of the road to or from Oulton on Monday please stop and help!!
Richard
PS Gareth - havent had a chance to ring you but hopefully might see you on Monday - I usually park overlooking Denton's/Cascades

Depending on weather I will be in EMA - a green sprint DHC with yellow lettering reading lotus elan in place of the usual sprint stripes or a Norfolk Mustard Elan +2 Zetec. I usually go in at the Knicker Brook entrance (less crowded) and park on the hill but I will be wandering around so I will seek you out.
planning on going to see practice tomorrow afternoon and raing both days-lets hope weather improves.

Anyone going this weekend? I’m going tomorrow. Looks like a good turn out of Elans in the John Whitmore race.
Found my post above from 2009, can’t believe it’s 15 years since I took mine to Oulton for the first outing after about 20 years off the road.
Paintwork is even tattier so if you see a Lagoon Blue/White Sprint FHC with patina that’s me!

There 'should' be a good turnout of CLOG's this weekend. Whether there will be is another matter.
CLOG's have an open membership policy (they even let me in) and members do not have to reside in, or anywhere near, Cheshire. Most members are owners of 'classic' lotus but there are one or two that have transgressed!
I will be in the CLOG display area on Sunday (white S4 DHC)

68 Elan S4 DHC. Built in a weekend from a kit (just like the advert said)

Just got back.... good racing. Best race was the TVR/Morgan duel with the TVR won, plenty of Elans in the race but just not quick enough.
Some pics of nice cars...
The Europa is owned by Steve from Oakmere, he restored it. The Elan looked original, anyone on here?
cheers

Mark, that’s my Elan! Thought you would have recognised the tatty paint, although there was a bit of a shine when the sun was out. Enjoyed the drive out through Cheshire.
I didn’t spot any other Elans in the display area. There were 7 Elans in the Sir John Whitmore Trophy which was great to see. And quite a few 1960s Lotus racing cars (I’m not very knowledgeable on the different types).
And it only rained briefly which is unusual for the Gold Cup.
My friend took lots of photos, I’ll post some up in due course
