Parking lot racecar

PostPost by: garyeanderson » Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:38 am

Mi Friend Chris showed me a couple of photos last Friday, I asked him to forward them to me and reminded him yesterday. Well the pictures were there in my inbox when I looked this morning so here they are. This is a 2 liter engine, I'm not sure of the power but the quote was "270hp". Minimum weight with driver is 1280 lbs, it ought to be able to get out of its own way...

Looks good with the flat bonnet

It has so much power it needs an airbrake?

I seem to remember someone writing somewhere that the Ford Duratec was too tall to fit into an Elan.
This one seems to have enough room.
Dunnell engines can squeeze 317 bhp out of a normally aspirated 2.0 Duratec so the quoted figures are well believable.
What a lovely toy; errrm Mongrel :) but very scary in the wet.
How long is it 'till Christmas

Cheers

I am pretty sure that is Mark Huffman's car. A local friend of mine has co-driven it with him the last few years. It
is very fast :)

have fun

I love the side exhaust. I'm thinking about doing one (on the other side, of course) when I build the super-dooper lightweight. I was worried about packaging, but that one seems to tuck away quite well. Has anyone put a side exhaust on their elan? If so, I'd love to hear about it, preferably with pictures.

Thanks, Gary.

Mine will be RHD and so a bit more.... subtle than that. Probably shorten the passenger footwell and then look for a very short navigator.
