Historic racing in the UK

I don't compete but have attended a number of GB race meetings in the recent past.
I recommend any of the HSCC & many of the VSCC events. There's nearly always a great selection of Elans & Europas participating in various race catagories.
Apart from them there's a fantastic selection of great racing cars to get close up to & a friendly atmosphere in the paddock (free entry)
Also, Google your local race circuit to find out what events are planned; you will also normally find which catagories of car will be racing.
I always had those sites on my favourites list to plan my Summer weekends.
Have an enjoyable 2009

There seem to be less Elans in the HSCC events than previously (I think because they got fed up of them winning everything and changed the rules). The Classic Sports Car Club also run events with many Elans in.
Cheers,
Pete. HSCC member, but can't think why.

I raced in the HSCC 60's Roadsports CHampionship 20 years ago. The Elans were hobbled by having to use narrower tyres - otherwise they would win everything. Similarly the 7's. If you want to see racing Lotii I think the HSCC is the place to be & the paddocks are very friendly.

I race in HSCC Historic Roadsports (mainly '60's cars but some '50's too). In 2008 we commonly had 5 Elans and a couple of Sevens. Normally close racing and I think a Lotus was on the podium in all but one event.
At the same HSCC meetings we also have 70's roadsports with Elans & Europas; and then there is Guards Trophy which is for FIA cars - only trouble is that they are competing against Chevron B8's and the odd GT40 so the 26R's and other Elans are pretty much middle of the pack.
You can see event details at www.hscc.org.uk

Should you be interested to race at mainland Europe, consider http://www.classic-lotus-competition.eu
