Creating GTS style car from a S2 - the restoration begins
Hi David
Yes, Bourne cars had engine bays and underside of the bootlid left the grey gel coat colour - there are threads on this, have attached a pic from one of them.
Yes, thick rad!! Top end Tony Thompson one, not sure that the 150 bhp engine in there now needs it but I have a 186 one tucked away!!
Good spot on the E-type - I casually said that must be worth ?250k and they told me more like ?2m!!

I?ve got the same TTR radiator and swirl box. Never had a problem with over heating on July very hot and humid days (with a 150HP TC).
Exciting to see it all come together !

I think the thick radiator shown is the TTR-CS-26R: RADIATOR DOUBLE CORE TO ORIGINAL THICKNESS 26R
TTR talked me into an even bigger one, given my 181 hp motor:
TTR-CS-MOD: RADIATOR EXTRA LARGE TRIPLE CROSS FLOW FOR CARS IN EXTREME POWER & TEMPERATURE
It has chamfers on the upper leading edges for bonnet clearance. And the upper hose connector is below the top of the radiator instead of faired in on the top.
I suspect the 26R version radiator would have been fine but the MOD version was only marginally more expensive. Both not cheap, but good quality. So far I haven't driven the car in really hot weather - but it will come this summer (California). Nice to know there are no cooling issues. That was a nagging problem with the original setup even with the stock motor.
The MOD radiator does fit my S4 but I had to get rid of the bonnet spring - no room for it. I opted for secure hood pins in the rear to ensure the bonnet wouldn't fly off by just relying on the original hood latches.

Thanks - French Blue is my overall favourite - when the body was so far gone (see pic) I think it is only a small crime to paint it the wrong colour (that can always be changed) - better to have it out of the lock up and onto the track (and road)!

Love the airbox! I did a similar thing on mine to fit large, properly radiused trumpets. All custom in CF - cost a bloody fortune!

I believe both certified?s outsize airbox and mine (1owner69elan) are both from Dave Vegher. Sadly, custom made and no longer available.
