Hi All

The Crossfield car in question is 26-R-7 and it is still on the DVLA register.

Any more info on the Stanley Leong car out there please? Is it a fourth 26R Shapecraft, (2 sidewindow and 2 non-sidewindow), or is it a copy Shapecraft style top on a genuine racing chassis, or a road Shapecraft with 26r road-wheels and roll-bar. The reg.nr. appears to read SZ5150

Barry Wood raced a GT40 later on in the 60's and I seem to remember he pranged it.

Hi Dave,
Making research on the names of the drivers of #59, I pointed on that:

Hi Christian
I have seen that listing a long time ago and asked Peter Pulver which car he drove at Sebring.

The car driven at sebring was 26-R-9 and 26-R-10 was Fred Asplant's car and that was driven at Daytona.

Peter also told me that they drove Lance Pruyn's car at Daytona and that car is now the current Gold Bug replica driven by Shaun Walker.

Cheers

Evening all
Reply to Pete -elansprint71 - query re SHAPECRAFT drawings

A later issue of the magazine shown featured a very nice front-cover pic of a 26R on the ground and a GT40 behind it on an incline up to a transporter. The team colour was Red. I think the mag was about 1965. If I can find it I will post.

However, the artist made a total MONS of the overhead front section.
The incorrect drawing is in the Shapecraft forum of this website. - seek and ye shall find

Also - read between the lines, Michael

Hi Christian
26-R-10 was at TTR's for quite a while many years back having a complete rebuild.

At that time I had not met Peter and believed that my car had run at Daytona as well as Sebring. The original programme from Daytona that I had I passed on to Shaun Walker for his Gold bug ( 26-R-46) also originally supplied to Dutchess Autos but I am not sure who now owns 26-R-10.

cheers

Unfortunately changing up a gear depends upon how many posts one makes; this ensures that puffed-up windbags (no names; no pack-drill) come out on top- rather like in political circles.

If only we had a system which depended upon subject knowledge, rather than... "strange noise, rattles in my wishbones, which tyres..."

The back garden about 1979
My road Elan just visible was FAD273C
It was a 'series 1 1/2' car and may still exist? Probably quite rare.
The bloke I bought it from was sending lots of stuff out to Japan but the market collapsed, so I made him a low bid. I sold it to a chap up North.
