What puzzles me: if the polyester blazers outlawed Rohan's dry sump kit back in 2004, how come they accept all this other shit now?
Cheers,
Pete.

Regulations differ......In historic FIA-events, drysump is homologated in period G ; 66-71. Not Before.

Jerry and Dag,
I argued that point with CSRG on the west coast when I wanted to run my car at Laguna Seca ( MAZDA ) & Sears Point ( Infineon) - I pointed to the 526 addendum and the age cut off asserting that it was homogated in period - they said "the 26R's were not run ( allowed ? by SCCA) in 66". I pointed to the fact that my car ran in 66 with a dry sump in Canada and pacific NW .... log books and pictures in my hand .... "Nope did'nt happen". Common, its a legitimate vintage race car . besides its not like dry sumo makes it faster ...... "no thank you don't bring the car". discussion over....
Now I'm I getting grief over my "heavy" narrow arch, skinny tire ( tyre) wet sump , full interior ( gutted interiors are barrier/penalty for some) - I say grief because the guys on the east coast want to treat like it a wide arch 26R with regards to class.
There's no sympathy for a driver bringing a 60's lotus to a vintage event in NA.

Two normal classes for an Elan in Australian Historics
Group M = sports racing cars of the period = 26R or equivalent needs to run
per the specification sheet for the specific car of the period that has a traceable racing history and thus must be a genuine 26R or a genuine modified racing elan of the period.
Group S = production sports cars = normal elans and dont need to have a period racing history. Most 26R external mods not allowed, standard body work, non of the lightweight alloy components, but mechanical internals free. This is class I run in and dry sumps being an external engine modification not allowed and accusup after a few years deemed to be similar. A dry sump built internally into the wet sump pan would technically be legal hence my interest
My elan has a racing history with me back to the early 1980's ( which is group R) so I could actually run it in the relevant 1980's historic racing sports car period but it would not be competitve with the all out sports racing cars in that class and not many production based cars run in historics in that class so i prefer the group S
regards
Rohan
