my first track day

Had my first track day yesterday at Phillip Island. Organized by the MSCA. It was a fantastic event and run very professionally.
I seemed to be quick enough to be catching people, there was only passing allowed on the straights so I struggled to get around some higher powered cars when I had the chance after being slowed by them through all the corners.

after cooking my tyres, I wondered about a set for the track, and now i have a question - what is the benefit of knock on hubs? My car has them, but It seems that bolt ons would open up a world of wheels that didn't cost the earth.
All these race Elans seem to have knock ons. why so?

I have always used bolt on hubs. My Elan came with them originally as it was a standard not S/E S4 so I did not have to change them. Like you say it makes getting suitable wheels a lot easier. In Europe there may be some FIA requirement around knock on hubs ?

Phillip Island is a great track,what times did you get to :D

no idea on times as it was untimed and i couldn't get the gopro to fit anywhere good before scrutineering (had to make room for the instructor)
we had two runs with instructor then two alone. It was great fun.
I'm thinking maybe of having a go at regularity next.
