Hi thought this would be topical as I read recently of a the first Historic Modsports race and I think Pat had his old Modsprts Elan there representing the Elans. In late 80's I missed out in Modsports Elan near Birmingham, anybody know if it hence interest.
Here are a links to a few picture I found recently on Pete Taylor Photograghy's website, these are his images and if you want a copy please contact him direct.
Who?s Modsports Elan is this and where is it?

No idea about the "General Provisions" car, which I only saw once, racing at Aintree (hence the horse-track in the background!).

Hi Guys
Jon Flechers car is 26-R-41 ex Graham Warner driven by Jackie Stewart. Jon raced in modsports in the late 60's early 70's and won many championships in his car.
Below is pic of mine with later style bodywork. I still have an unused centre section and doors as most cars ended up with clamshell front and rear.
This pic was taken at LLandow and in the backround if my memory serves me correctly is Jonathon Palmer in a Marcos.
Cheers

Rich Kamp, Sonoma CA, USA owned one painted dark blue. I don't know if he still has it.

Here is a photo of the Jon Fletcher/Graham Warner Chequered Flag Elan; taken at the one-off revival meeting at Aintree in November 2004.
Graham Warner's biog "A Chequered Life" is on pre-order at Amazon. Graham suffered a stroke in February but I understand that he is on the mend at home.
I've seen the car more recently and it is now in much better condition.

Folks,
Just a quick clarification to some of the info on here about the Fletcher Elans:
The Modsports car had nothing to do with the Chequered Flag car. John built up the Modsports car from parts bought from Lotus (quote "I had no need to chop up a perfectly good car"). The Chequered Flag car (26-R-41) was retired to a corner of the garage and has always existed independently of the Modsports Elan.
As I understand, the confusion arises because when John entered some more serious races (1978 Silverstone 6 hour for example) with the Modsports where they wanted papers and a chassis number, and given it was built from bits, it didn't have one, so he just used the Chequered Flag car's papers!
There is a possibility that the Chequered Flag car may been seen back in public at Goodwood FOS this year after many years in the shade... while the Modsports car, which obviously has a spectacular history all of it's own is being assessed with a view to putting it back on the track at some point soon as well.
Both are in new ownership now, passed along by John with all the documentation of the above from John and on inspection, the original 26R car is exactly that, clearly an unmolested early Elan.
The new caretaker, who has known John and both cars since the 70s, intends to use them regularly again which John is no longer able to do sadly, so hopefully we'll get to see both again soon.

Hi Vaughan,
Yes, the 26R has been freshened up and is on the brink of being confirmed as a guest at the Jackie Stewart Celebration at Thirlestone this Summer which looks like being a great day out (and a nice combination with the FoS the weekend after).

The Modsports is going to need a bit more budget, time and love to get it up and running again... but if the promised Modsports revival happens, we'll make every effort to get her out there.
Best
Rick
