Wet sizes

Hi
I will be running my Donnington GT car in a series that allows free tyres (size and compound).
The previous owner had great success with slicks running 11" rears and10" fronts . I plan to run 10" rears and 9" fronts until I am used to the car (it does run a wing and splitter).
As to wets, I was thinking of running 10" rear and 8" fronts primarily because tyres are more readily available.
I could run 10" all round but don't think the steering would be too friendly.
What's the consensus on a combination od 10"/9" slicks and 10"/8" wets?
Thanks
Gavin
