Racing seat

' morning ! I am in need of advice regarding FIA approved racing seat for my Elan S1. Have been racing last season with the TT "26R-replica" seat, which is kind of nice to look at, but "worthless"( to my opinion) from a safety point of view. Can anyone out there suggest a seat that fits
( narrow enough), and which also is FIA approved ? The cockpit is too narrow for most modern seats.

hi
I have a Cobra Imola waiting to go into my SI, this is a seat that is often put into Elans and has FIA approval, some carbon fibre Elise seats also fit but they are not FIA approved although for Historic racing I do not think the seats have to have FIA approval.

Thanks ! - I will have a look at it ! According to the text of the App.K, I think it says that "seats will have to be either original, or FIA approved modern seats. " ( - strangely enough ..!)

Batfish, - I see it measures abt. 560mm across the "wings". Pls let me know when you have fitted it. I am worried there is not ample room beside the rollover bar. Do you use a hardtop on yr car ?

Hello
I use the Mallock kevlar reinforced seat in my FIA Elan in Greece. Gets you low enough in the car so your helmet is lower than the roll bar!
Problem is as usual how to securely attach the seat to the car - I use lots of brackets and bolts to spread the load and intend to put some steel beneath the floor shortly. I used the same seat in a GT race Elan in England years ago and had a few high speed shunts without damage to self - other than my bank balance!

I have just modified a Cobra Imola 2 to fin my S4 with Spider roll bar.
I cut 20 mm of the right front to get the seat further into the car, and then cut quite a bit of the left shoulder wing.
Seat is now at the trimmer. I will get it back in 3 weeks.
I found that the Imola 2 is the smallest fibreglass seat and therefore the easiest to modify.
But it is properly not FIA approved when you have cut it down?
