Some Photos of the Elan at the Phillip Island Historic Races last weekend. A great meeting with over 500 cars entered. A field of 34 Formula 5000 ( Formula A in USA terms). Also Nuvolaris Alfa typo B P3 and Fangios Alfa 159, plus many many more.
My Elan felt priviledged to share the same track with such legends
The group S historic racing was tight and good with a large and mixed field.
cheers
Rohan

I enjoyed looking at those Rohan.
Those TR's look big & menacing!
A slow walk around the Paddock must have been enjoyable as well.
Cheers
John

That looks like a lot of fun! And a great mix of cars.
While we're showing photos, I finally got my S1 finished - I was forced to do it after the S4 got smashed at Spa last October.
It's FIA'd which is where the photos came from and will be on teh grid at Silverstone this Sunday for the HSCC Historic Roadsports. There's a total of 7 Elans on the grid (out of 30) so should be a blast.
Easter Monday I should be at the Goodwood Sprint and then Cadwell the following weekend!

George
I run 175/60 yokohamas which fit quite comfortably. Of course the rear bodywork is stock, but it did require some gentle relieving - the overall external width is the same as orginal. Both the shell and chassis are Lotus. Shell is 1963 vintage, while I think the chassis is a late 1970's replacement (still unused when I got the car) which i have rewelded as the original quality was simply awful.
The thing I had to work on was getting the correct hub and wheel offset combination. There is actually more distance between the inner and outer arch than on an S4 - the problem then is that the wheels sit slightly further in on the wishbone than is standard which causes a separate clearance issue that needs to be resolved.
Next step is to see whether we can squeeze in Dunlop 5.25x13 FIA tyres - that might be a step too far!
are you putting one together?
