Firewall between Fuel tank & Cockpit

My sprint is in the hands of a specialist to get it ready for sprints (apropriately) & hillclimbs.

he has recommended and I don't disagree that we should built a proper firewall between the cockpit & fuel tank.

I am certain that we won't be pioneers here, and I'd like advice and examples if people can help.

Yes I fitted Aluminium sheeting between the suspension towers and under the rear parcel shelf. The scrutineers did not think cardboard was an adequate firewall

The sheets were pop riveted together where the 2 sheets join and screwed into the fibreglass at the sheet to body join. Photo attached.

Proably more important to have a properly located and anchored and protected fuel cell so dont need the firewall

Hi Jason,

I fitted a firewall in my Plus 2 for FIA certification. I did it with two aluminium panels, one vertical and screwed and sealed between the rear suspension towers, and the other horizontally extending rearwards beneath the parcel shelf, with a front flange screwed and sealed in front to the vertical panel, and fibreglassed to the body along the sides and beneath the lower rear window seal. The speakers had to move out

The rear seats have been replaced with a plywood bench covering two lockers , one each side of the tunnel.

I'd really like to invest in a foam fuel tank, as mentioned here lately.
