Slow progress but still progress

Hi,

As someone who is learning the intricacies of a 1970 +2S I read more than I post. After reading a post by Andy241 :

elan-plus-f13/where-start-t22663.html

I thought it was time to post some pictures and to use this exercise to let him know he is not alone :)

I am not in the fortunate position to be able to send big bits off for rebuild and will be doing most of the work myself (for me this is part of the fun - if that is the right word).

Anyway here are some pictures (if I have done things correctly) :

car4.jpg and

Chassis looks ok, engine runs in a manner (low compressions on numbers 2 & 3) but my father is dying to get his hands on this (was a working mechanic of +55 years) to do a rebuild.

My plans are simple, rebuild the mechanical side of the car, sort the electrics and get an MOT. The body will have to wait as I have promised my father (very old) that it will be on the road by the end of the year. The gang who organised the France trip look to have done a fantastic job and I hope to attend an event in the future...

That's about it.

Only other thing I can really add is that I'm in Bolton (a little place in the North of England for non UK members) and I have found another +2 owner (but not spoken to him properly) about 1.5 miles away

" The chassis looks OK" ? Subtract the cost of refurbishing the chassis and a new one looks good value. It would add value to the finished car and it would be my priority.

Hi Stu,

To my shame it was purchased from ebay

The price was right, I wanted something to rebuild and the car was pretty much complete...

As I said, my goal is to get the car back on the road with the body as is so the stripe will live on (for a short while). It has lovely gold piping and is autographed on the drivers door with the previous owners name. My family & friends won't call the car anything other than "Dean" :D

I am sure I will be calling on the forum for assistance and I'm confident I will get answers needed.

Adios

   There is no shame in that. I got mine on Ebay and I didn't even view it before bidding. I just loved the colour. :D :D
