Have You a Photo of Your Elan in the 60s/70s?
I posted earlier but now I'll show the progress of its first restoration, c1980, and second resto, c2007.
Sorry, not the 60s or 70s but a couple of cool pics, I think.

Hey that was MY first Elan also! I bought it from a photographer in Seattle named Butch Welch, and after wrecking the car in the rain, sold it on after it was mostly rebuilt to cover the repair bills. That would have been in early 1981.

The reason why Chapman built the +2, for the father whose family insisted on travelling with him. 1969, North Wales, my brother and I taken on a picnic with Mum and Dad. A perfectly sized GT for the family. I don't think it will take too much imagination to guess what my younger brother is doing behind the front tire!

Yes.
Is the forum software due to be dragged from the dark ages into 2019?

Copeland was fair haired - and it was longer (sort of Mark's length juding by his photo!) - and his father was in the CIA!
The blacked up tails were in vogue, yep, and vinyl roof coverings, remember those? Rostyle wheels......
Any way, more snaps people, please!
Tim
On my +2 there are ?witness marks? on the B pillars namely screw holes for the separating trim between the vinyl roof covering and the main body colour, sorry I don?t have any photos of Elans to add, all my 70?s photos of me and cars involve Mini?s and a very interesting mixture of fashion versus taste.
Kindest regards

Is the smoke from the doughnuts exploding when you dumped the clutch? Great to see your earlier efforts at making Elans do amazing things!
Kindest regards

Ten years after buying my Elan I finally acquired a photo of it racing in the sixties. Until today I had assumed my car has always been red-now I know it was green! The car was Western Canadian "C" Production champion for 1967,68 and 69. This photo shows the car on the grid (#24) at the start of the 1969 "Pepsi Pro" race at Westwood the wonderful track that used to be just outside of Vancouver. Note that two cars in front is the Cobra "Hairy Canary" that was a local resident racer for many years. I don't have the results but I doubt my car won...

See photo above (I know, you?re thinking what a sad bloke!)
Thought I recognised the location, at Ynys just north of Harlech. The barn is a little worse for 50 years!
Not sure about the location of Nick?s second picture.

Harlech makes sense, thanks very much. I recall that there was a place where many from the West Midlands went in those days - Port Madog? I am sure I massacred the welsh!
Thx much - road trip next time I am in the uk

Yes, in Porthmadog (and Barmouth) the West Midlands accent takes over from Welsh language during the summer months! (All very welcome, of course!)

Not quite 60/70s , around 1982 at Llyn Celyn near Bala North Wales. Dog long gone, Elan S3 s/e, complete with S4 replacement nose section, long gone (where are you now?) but girlfriend now wife.
Learning about TC engines circa 1974 as a 17 year old. Lovely flares and the glass of ?orange juice? on the front wing!
