Maybe it was just a ?Victor Meldrew? moment.
I went onto the Performance Direct website to retrieve last year?s quotation ? ?you are not registered with us? it said despite their e-mails referring to giving me a quote last year.
I took the time to try for a new quote but was stuck by the questionnaire at the occupation stage. ?Retired? still needed a job title and type of business ??NONE? was not acceptable. I tried ?unemployed?, and still it asked for job title and type of business. Even ?independent means? could not get me to the next stage.
Conclusion: Maybe Performance Direct is just not interested in ?old farts? with fixed incomes.

I have always found FJ expensive on the Sprint circa ?200 car is always garaged 49 years old & no points. The zetec sounds expensive only pay ?320 for a 5litre griffith same people do the elan for ?103 this is A Manning at Henley. However just had a price from Hagerty at Silverstone as they do a multi car classic policy at ? 570 for 4 cars:
Griffith 500
Elansprint
Ginetta G32
Triumph Stag
All agreed value limited mileage

When I wrote off my Turbo engined Europa S2 I had a 5 figure guaranteed value policy with AON, part of Royal and SUn Alliance. I was paid out the full amount in a week, they paid for all damage to motorway barriers etc. Absolutley first class. A little more expensive but good. My Sprint is now insured for +20K pounds guaranteed, unlimited milage (but if I do 800 I'm doing well), and costs 275 year. Full peace of mind.
cheers
