Following Stu's advice from Bring aTrailer and joining. I bought the white +2 that was posted on BaT a few weeks ago. Lovely car. Very nice/honest seller. Very complete except for the boot trim, which I understand from some previous threads can be made pretty easily. Anyone know what the steering column shroud that covers the directional and headlight dip switch comes from? I'm missing the lower. Thanks! Great to be here.

Hi,

What year/model?

The shroud on my 73 +2S130/5 is a custom fiber glass piece, single piece for both top and bottom. I think the early none S car might have been different.

SO might be able to find a photo at:

Cheers.

Thanks. It's a '72 S130. The shroud looks like the two piece one that a Spitfire 1500 uses. It's covered in the same large grain vinyl as the other trim in the car. Wondering if I couldn't just use the TR4 parts that the earlier cars used?

I'm far from an expert on the Plus 2 but isnt the steering column shroud normally a bit bigger than that? I'm wondering if someone has fitted a shorter one to accommodate the non standard steering wheel and the protruding boss?

BTW they do come up on ebay from time to time.

I think someone has probably replaced the Lotus one with Triumph one for some reason.

The one fitted look about the right length compared to the standard one based on the screw position, possible narrower judging by gap with trim on the dash. It should come up to and fit tightly around the horn ring.

I think your basic options are:
- Find a second hand one one (ebay or kind person on here)
- Fabricate a new fiberglass one and cover it
- Fit a Triumph parts bin one

I think the earlier cars had a slightly different steering column (none collapsible) so the earlier cover may not be a direct fit for your car.
