The new Lotus Esprit

PostPost by: GrUmPyBoDgEr » Wed Jul 16, 2008 10:20 am

Not too long ago I recall reading a thread about a new Lotus that was to be announced / introduced this year.
Can someone point me in the right direction to find it again?
My own search wasn't fruitful.
Was I dreaming about this or did I maybe find it on another Lotus forum? :?

Cheers
John

That's not the new esprit - which is due about 2010.

The car featured in Autocar is due @ the London Motor Show, very soon. The Project Name is "Eagle" (although we don't know if that will be the car's actual name). It is a mid-engined 2+2 (Yes, really) Toyota V6, approx 280Bhp. Bigger than an elise, more luxurious. Pricing TBD, but believed to be approc ? 45K

Haven't seen pics of rear seats yet - I think passengers will need to be like Toulouse Le Trec......

HTH, & good luck to Lotus with it.

No Brian,
that's fairly old information.
That car would have had the BMW engine. The one mentioned recently will not.
Thanks for all the help though.
Let's keep searching :D

Cheers

All guess-work and artists impressions, just like every scoop in Autocar.

Not a single real photograph yet.

Surely you have not missed the viral marketing campaign Lotus has carried out?

The Evora looks nice (rubbish name though Lotus, nearly as bad as Aviva in a 'aren't we modern and hip' way. er, no... ) I'm probably only one of 3 people who like the new Europa mind. CAR magazine this month reckon that the Farbio GTS http://www.farbiosportscars.com/ by ex-Marcos chap is more of a spiritual successor to the +2. it would not look out of place with yellow circles and 'Espirit' carved into it's hind...

if I were i) loaded ii) couldn't wait til 2011 iii) didn't like classics so much...
