Stonliegh "Club Lotus" Parts Fair

PostPost by: GrUmPyBoDgEr » Mon Oct 16, 2006 10:51 am

I thought this topic would be more suitable in this forum rather than just the +2 section.
It has been suggested that a meeting point be set up at Stonliegh in the restaurant.
I don't think this would go down too well with the people running the restaurant.
A meeting place would be a good idea, do more of you want to do this?
Will there be enough of us going there to make it worth while?
I've sent an e-mail to Club Lotus asking if they can provide a space for a LotusElan.net meeting place.
Let's see what they can provide?
Is anyone capable of providing some notices or whatever in order to provide some sort of recognition?
I expect to be there early, as I amongst other Elan owners, have been asked to display my car.
So I should be able to help in some way.

Cheers
John

Here, here to the meeting area for LotusElan.Net

Not sure I can get there early enough to help with the set up though.

As Club Lotus are having an early Elan theme I am sure they should help the number one Elan forum 8) All we need is a sign to identify the area and a guest book so that people can note down the mobile numbers and meet up times.

Looking forward to seeing some of you again.

Steve,

you are right they are having an Elan theme this time.
Annemarie at Club Lotus will help to provide a meeting spot for us.
She has also requested that any of you taking your Elans there (not +2's)
to attempt to get there before 09:30 in order to get your car included in the display.
In doing so you will most likely have to be prepared to leave your car there until the end of the event.

So which talented graphic designer is going to make some LotusElan.net signs for the meeting point

Cheers
John

Past couple of years we have had an unofficial lotuselan.net meet at the cafe (no objection from the organisers so long as you buy a cuppa)!
It is probably the best place to meet in stoneleigh in the configuration lotus hire it , eg they only hire the cow sheds! .
(I live 2 miles from Stoneleigh and go to most of the meetings during the winter season).
Also unlike the spring meeting it is only on one day so it is more likely that we'll overlap reasonably well..
Happy to meet wherever
Cheers
Tim
PS Lapel badges...... perhaps we could have a secret handshake!

Some of the correspondance with Club Lotus for your information:-

Wecould recognise each other if we walked around with one trouser leg rolled up

Hi John

That great!
I think we will organize our stand to include a seating area for you and your elan guys. I cant guarantee no draughts but you will have our warm company :)

Hi,

I?ve posted your request on the forum, also your website for some foreign visitors who need information on how to get there from London.
Any further thoughts on a, (not too draughty) meeting place for the ?LotusElan.net? guys?

It?s a pleasure
John

Hi John

If you could just ask anyone who wishes to bring their baby elan along for our display as its our featured model. Brian Buckland will be there all day giving seminars. We need the cars by 9.30am at the latest and they need to stay in the hall until the end of the show.

Many thanks
Annemarie

Hi

I plan to be at the parts fair on Sunday. Is there still a meet up planned? Is it at the Club Lotus stand or in the restaurant?

Hope to be able to meet some of you.

I'll be travelling up in a V8 Eprit since my +2 is still in bits. Tough life!

Sean.

Hi,
Club Lotus have kindly agreed to provide some seating close to their stand fur us "Elan guys" see the above previous info'.
It appears that some will prefer to meet in the Restaurant area.
In any case I have made an A3 poster to put up in the area which Club Lotus has promised.
A note pad will also be there where people can leave messages, Phone numbers etc.
I hope that this "minimum effort" from myself, will be of use.
Looking forward to meeting a few of you there.
John

PS Who are actually planning to be there?

I hope to be there in my yellow +2 CTD 679J.

I will bring along some old bits if anyone wants to buy them:

1 pair of drive shafts with doughnuts,
1 pair of driving lamps for later +2
1 emission Stromberg inlet manifold (the one that feeds the crossover pipes).

I'm also planning to go.
Having checked the weather, I might even try to make it in the Sprint.

Hmmm........

Now where's the jack (and handle), spare wheel, mallet, tyre inflator, hazard triangle, torch and battery, mobile phone, road map, block of wood to 'chock' the wheels, food and drink hamper, sleeping bag, large canister of water (and oil and brake fluid), ignition starter fluid, warning flares, loud whistle, etc.

Regards,
Stuart.
