Is this scissor jack correct?

PostPost by: Peter +2 » Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:24 pm

Having finally aquired the correct Metallifacture jack for my 68 Plus 2 I hope to try a recover some of the cost by selling the old one.

Trouble is I do not know whether it's an original late type jack?

When I got it i thought that someone had just knocked it together, so I suspect not?

Any views please?

Cheers

Peter

later one has a welded pin in place of studding and nuts.
I would say its not original. just a modified scissor jack

The blue one and the middle black one are originals. Yours looks pretty close!

Thanks all for your helpful replies, especially with pictures.

As I suspected, it?s not an original one.

I will put it on eBay and see if it has any value.

Cheers

Are you after originality or functionality?

If the latter, I'd keep it as it is good for purpose, even if home made. There is very little difference between yours and an original 2B (late type) jack and you could easily weld a pin to it with the existing sleeve and make it look like a real one.

Edit: Oh, sorry, you have the Metallifacture jack as well. Sell away!

You could keep the 2 so you could jack up one side in the 2 positions at the same time

Sorry for the tardy reply, but probably makes sense to keep both as suggested. As that way I can squarely raise the car enough to get a trolly jack in place.

Very inventive, I like it. I am sure you would have a few takers if you knocked up a few :D

I am pleased to say that I now have a metallifacture one just like yours shown in the top picture.
