just a reminder: decent tyres for an elan look like this!

PostPost by: el-saturn » Tue Nov 28, 2017 6:36 pm

......................because some elans get tyres which are adequate for cars with 40hp and not 150 like some of us NEED! so spoil your car and yourself with something other than disabled car tyres (e.f 145 80 13!!!) ---- as always some will agree others won't - what the ...... MERRY XMAS (your elan will wiggle his tail if he gets some REAL tyres!! sandy ---- this was not about any race tryes!

Didn't they stop making A539's. When I tried to get them a few years back they were all old stock?
Mike

Good tyres though. I thought so.

Unfortuantly these tires will rub on 1600 (S1) and S2, which limit our choices even more.

I know you high power guys will disagree but modern cars chuck out a lot more power and are heavier than their forebears.
So I'm of the opinion that good quality hatchback tyres are sufficient for most roadgoing elans, especially if they have standard rear suspension platforms.

I recently bought these tires (Yokohama A539. 175/60R13 77H) and they fit perfectly on my S1. Great grip!

Hi

I thought 175 was considered too wide for 4.5 inch rims and the maximum recommended was 165.

Unfortunately these tires aren?t available in the US. I bought them in the UK and had them shipped over. Expensive, but well worth it ( I?m used to buying racing tires so these are ?normal price? when you include shipping). They fit just fine on the stock rims, although you should know that I have small diameter adjustable coil over springs/shocks all the way around.

Glen,

Do you have a stagger tape to measure the outside circumference?
