Fuel supply line to Fuel tank junction

I suspect the union between the fuel tank and fuel supply line on my Plus 2 is leaking as I'm loosing petrol from this area. The manual glibly states to 'remove the fuel supply line whilst underneath the car'... I cannot find the union at all ! I can see the supply line disappear between the body and the chassis just in front of the differential...

Is the manual wrong? Is the union accessed via the boot (trunk)? Do I have to remove the differential?

In the top left of the picture is the union between the fuel tank and the supply pipe. It sits behind the diff as you can see, you should be able to see it with one of the road wheels removed. Access may not be as easy as it looks with the suspension uprights and drive shafts in place.
