vacuum headlamp switch panel mounting.

PostPost by: bloodknock » Sun Jul 23, 2017 6:50 pm

Hi
can anyone tell me how the vacuum headlamp switch is fitted into the dash? The switch has a standard switch mounting thread and nut, but the hole in the dash is too large :?

This is a photo of a switch mounted on the dash, you need a "dished cup" mount, like the choke cable:

Thanks Phil
Got the choke cable dished cup but cant find one for the head light switch. Do you know if they can still be obtained?

I think that is one of the hens teeth items on an Elan. I don't know whether they've been remanufactured with the choke and heater cable fittings that are available now but if they have I suspect you'd have to buy an entire fitting just to get the cup arrangement.

I'd suggest you put up a a wanted advert here hopefully someone will have one lying about.

Consider converting an aluminium can that was used to supply 35mm film for cameras

Greg
Is that the Roswell where you guys found an alien craft and used their technology?
Just to correct the conspiracy theorists, Its alien insofar as its British, the outer shell is fiberglass, this is the technology combined with an X file, er, sorry, X frame chassis, and a twin cam, cross flow, hemispherical combustion chamber head, that provides star ship acceleration and manouverabilty that defies Newtons first law.

Bob, no, that's Roswell, New Mexico. I'm in Roswell, Georiga, about 1,300 miles to the east.
