Lotus Elan S2 For Sale

PostPost by: Kowalken1 » Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:05 pm

Up for sale is my latest project. I’m having great fun driving it but as I get older I am finding I want something a little safer.
Lots of pictures on Dropbox:

The car was in a field for 14 years less engine when my friend pitched it up. He worked on it for 30 years very sporatically. I convinced him to sell it to me!
1 liter Suzuki engine with a 5 speed behind it.
Rear end rebuilt at a local transmission shop. All bearings, hoses, rotoflex, etc etc replaced
Adjustable coil overs all around.
Look over the pictures an PM. If you are interested
I have $15k and over 1,000 hours tied up. Looking for offers over $20k
Thanks,
Ken

Straight swap for my project?
2.JPG and

Just joking, which specific Suzuki engine is that one? I am still mulling over which one to put in MY project though I doubt a 1L bike engine will come close to doing the trick. :D

Nothing but what is shown.
The engine is out of a geo metro which is made by Suzuki. It is connected to a 5 speed samurai transmission, they bolt right up
Might be a good choice. There is also a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder version

So that is the 3 cylinder in there?

Given the rest of the photos of the car this would be a great buy for someone but if it was me (can't be, see project :D ) I would go something other than that engine - not a criticism because the rest of the car is done so well - just a muse as much as anything.

Stock twincam in that thing would make it fly!

Yes it would
The car came without an engine and I have wanted to put one of those engines in a Lotus for 20 years. The $10k price for a twin cam I feel is crazy. This engine tuned could easily make 100hp. But the car is exactly as I wanted it. Lots of other engines that would work but none would make the sweet song of this engine.

If you want to be unbeatable the Suzuki engine you want is the Hayabusa....

Thanks
That would be a good choice. I plan to turbo the metro up to around 130 hp. Should be pretty good. Some guys have pushed these to 200 hp+
