genuine sprint for sale

PostPost by: deryck » Sat Oct 31, 2015 6:00 pm

Hi all,

I have a very derelict sprint drop head that is now for sale.K reg 1971. Tim Wilkes saw the car recently
The car was parked in a garage in 1975 with an electrical fault and forgotten, the mileage is 48k and is one owner before me or could have also been a dealer demonstrator.
it is basically complete with original engine, and the chassis looks good the car has never been seriously touched or restored.
it has original paint in Colorado.
The supplying dealer was Len Street in Chelsea
I have V5 in my name.
I brought the car some years back with the view to restore but my plans have changed,
I can email pictures but this car is not for the feint hearted but would look amazing when restored.
The original owner was connected to a lord so it has great Provence.
The car is in Northampton.
My email is [email protected] mobile 07802387405
I am looking for sensible offers but believe 19k is reasonable but would like more if possible! many thanks

Yes, this would make a good ground-up restoration project.

I have photos and history if anyone is interested and it is helpful to you, Deryck.

Yes, this is really interesting; nearly 50k miles in four years - must have been properly enjoyed - and then laid-up.. What was this electrical fault, was it so serious?

I'll be able to post more later on. Here's some for the time being. As originally found and after a bit of a clean up.

Interesting that the air box metal section, radiator support wings and air cleaner are done is the chassis red colour. Maybe Lotus ran out of black paint when it was made ?

cheers

These are more recent and up to date photos, showing that some remedial work has been carried out. It's still a good project though!

me too, drive up from Portsmouth, park outside Len Streets. buy spares down in the cellar.
Then as a reward stop in at the George Borough High street, park my +2S in courtyard and have a pint

Yes, me too! They were on my way to and from work so I bought lots of bits from them in the '70s.

Also, John 'Pancho' Webb (salesman?) who was very quick in the number one Rochas 26R despite/or maybe because of, his moustache.
