Well??? I went onto the elanregistry.org/stories site and had a look at the Archive Type 26 site and picked out the Lotus News archive update list and, guess what?, each one on the list is the Chinese porn site again Is it me? Or has the site been hacked. What is going on????

I think I've fixed it. One of the pages still had links back to the original site.

would a previous backup of the site enable to retrieve the photos (e.g. that of May 16 2016)?

Hope you were successful. Those originality photos were a great reference and that information really should be saved.

Yes it would. Do you have that backup?

I've been emailing back and forth with the last web host to try and get access but I think it will be fruitless. They want to know the credit card number last used to pay for service or a copy of the last bill.

Unfortunately I don't have one, I just noted that the archive site had mentioned a copy made at that date...

A cautionary tale on how easy it is possible to loose irreplaceable data without the right backup plan. I hope we have sufficient LotusElan.net backups, in sufficient different places, accessible by sufficient people so that this site could continue if it suffered a similar series of unfortunate events that have happened to the type 26 registery site. The same applies to the elanregistry.org site

I'm also trying to get access from the webhost. Since I'm not the previous owner they, rightly, don't want to give me any information. I've not been able to confirm that a backup exists.

I have heard back from Charles and he wrote:

"The responsibility for the technical side of the type 26 site lies with a third party and it appears that there has been an oversight which has resulted in the loss of the site. I still wish to keep the site and I am told that it will be possible to re-instate it – I am hopeful that it will be back up in the next few weeks although I am in the hands of someone else."

Charles is a lawyer, so expect action soon!
