Chassis plate

Hi,
My UK +2 did not have chassis plate when I brought it, so I have obtained a
new one. I know it is fitted on the passenger wing in the engine bay above
the front tyre but which way up should it go?
I.e The text "correct way up" if you were stood in the engine bay looking at
the plate, or if you were looking into the engine bay, if you see what I
mean!
Thanks in advance.

My US +2 had the plate mounted on right hand (passenger side) inner wheel
arch so that it read upright from across the other side of the car, same as
if your were standing in the engine bay. Original? Who knows with a Lotus?

I didn't have time to look, but as I recall, mine was over by the servos, one of the brake lines wore at it, reading properly form out side the car

Mine (UK) reads OK looking into the engine bay from the passenger side. It's
a replacement, but I think the original was the same - although i didn't
lose too much sleep over it at the time as it didn't make sense to me to put
it so you'd have to read it upside down!

David:
My US '69 +2 has the plate mounted on the front wheel arch outboard of the servos so the it can be read standing beside the left front wheel. However, on the '71 +2, also US model, it is mounted in a similar position but rotated 90 degrees making it readable from the driver's seat - that is, if you could see it from there.
I can e-mail you photos if that would help.
Seems to me, you choose, just as the original builder did!
