Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse (Sunstar do an S3
model complete with S4 rear arches!) They come up with a "1968 Lotus
Elan Series 4" complete with Elan SE Badges on the wings and Elan
Sprint gold stripes.

Bet it comes with an S3 dash
PS Were Strombergs (and bulge bonnets) around in 1968?

Looks like their S3 model with a Stromberg bump added. The front arches
look wrong to me, not mention the Sprint stripe etc. Still might be
tempted to add it to my collection.

S3 Super Safety model was produced in late '67, may have extended into early 1968.
Basically, the SS is a normal S3 body, rocker switch dash, dual brake M/C, unique interior door panels and handles, sort of modified S3 doors. Engineswere Weber carbed but the bonnet had the Stromberg bulge. Additionally, the seats were anchored to the floor same as a S4, but they were low back instead of the S4 hi-backed models.
SS wheel arches are normal S3 and headlamps are same as normal S3,
ie: NON-failsafe.
