Any +2s in the SF Bay Area?

PostPost by: Richardsona39 » Sun Nov 17, 2024 1:21 am

I'm in Maryland and I'm about to ship my +2's seats and door cards to my brother in El Cerrito so he can reupholster them for me. He was wondering if there are any +2s of similar vintage (mine is a 71) in the area in case he wants to check door card fit before covering, assuming the owner is amenable of course :)

Feel free to DM me if any pointers. Thanks!

Hello Adam,

There are a good many Lotus Elan +2s in the SF Bay Area. The Golden Gate Lotus Club is the local group for Northern CA. I suggest you join and post your request in the group. I'm sure we can find a couple of members and arrange a meetup.

Adam,

I own a '71 Plus 2S with door cards that are original and in fairly good condition. However, I live in Jackson in the Sierra foothills about a two hour drive from El Cerrito. If you can'f find a car closer to where your brother lives I would be glad to make my car available to him for door card measurements.

Hi, Adam. I have just seen Lee's +2 at my little Lotus hobby shop in El Sobrante, about 15 minutes from El Cerrito (mostly for our Climax Elites and Elans) and they are original and in excellent condition as is the +2.

If your brother is in the business of carpet and upholstery, especially for the older Lotus models, we would be most interested in meeting with him. Many of us, cut the carpet and require binding of the edges and center vinyl trim piece.

Many thanks, Mike Ostrov a 1961 El Cerrito High graduate. 510-232-7764 home or [email protected]

Thanks Mike! I will pass on your note. He's been doing upholstery for quite a few years as a side gig, but is starting up a bit more formally as a business now taking on commissions. He mostly works on Alfas (including one that has gone to Pebble Beach) but works on other makes as well. My one will be his first Lotus.
