Lotus Elan

Elan +2 S130 JPS interior renovation

PostPost by: thierryfm » Thu Nov 30, 2023 10:56 am

Hello,

I am currently renovating an Elan S130 JPS. Both leather (oatmeal) and corduroy have to be replaced. I have found something close, but not exaclty the same as the genuine. Does anyone knows if there is a supplier somewhere I can contact?

Thanks for your help!

Hi
I also have a JPS. I went a different way, with a all leather interior and perforated centres in the seat's, black piping to keep with the theme!.
This was done at Spydercars, they may be able to help you with a more original look.
Regards Tony

As far as I've seen the original original oatmeal and insert material are not available. So it's a case of trying to find the closest match you can.

My car at some point in it's history has had the interior redone with a close match. It's was many years into ownership before I realized. But weren't many cars with oatmeal interior to compare with in Texas.

I understand that the original material and colour is Ambla Tinto Wadi Beige.
The company below I believe can supply the actual Ambla material which was used originally. Worth getting in touch with them even if in this photo the colour doesn't seem quite right. The texture looks correct though.

Unfortunately, there are holes on both front and backs seats, so this is what I have found as replacement :

it looks like you have cloth centres to your seats so I guess that the company in the link page I suggested to you will only be able to supply the vynil Ambla material and you will then have to get the cloth pieces elsewhere.
Perhaps stating the obvious but I would definitely suggest you ask them if they can supply you with samples before comitting to buy.
I hope you have a good upholsterer who can sew it all together for you!

Yes that's good if at least I can get a vinyl as close as possible from the original one.
I have already found someone to do the seat restoration afterwards
Thanks for your help!
It was my fist post on this forum and there might be a fex more coming as the restoration work to be done on this car is...enormous!
I will also ask the Lotus factory for the cloth insert. You never know...

Hi

I am restoring my 1973 built but 1974 (M suffix registered) + 2 130/5, with with oatmeal interior, which I have owned since 1979.

I am looking for a recommendation of someone who can re-upholster the interior to the original pattern in the original oatmeal. My car does not have cloth insets, and I don't want these - but I do want to incorporate cutouts in both sides of the centre console to accommodate the seatbelt stalks to prevent ripping the inside of both seats to shreds (again) when raising and lowering the front seats.

All suggestions gratefully received, thank you.
