ANYBODY GOT A SECONDHAND COMPLETE STEERING COLUMN?

Hi Everyone & thanks for taking the time to look at my post!

I'm looking for a second hand steering column the whole assembly from steering wheel end to where it joins steering rack etc.
I don't have anything!!!
Any help much appreciated.

It a triumph spitfire column (unless it really early car). So might have luck looking for spitfire column, given the higher production numbers.

Hi. Got mine from the Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield. Purchased the whole column including switch gear, clamp and flexible joint for not much money. The guy there is really helpful.

There are two distinct versions, the later cars have an integrated ignition switch/steering lock, the early cars don't.

Before installing, I would replace the nylon(?) bushes between the inner and out columns not difficult or expensive and it can make a big difference.

How soon do you want the assembly?

I have one, inner and outer column with integrated ign lock, indicator/dip switch, binacle and wheel.

I am in the throes of a lhd conversion with an Escort steering column. Once I know the Ford column will fit, the original will be discarded.

i have a complete housing, and the lockable steering rod. i need a good steering rack. cheers sandy

If you replace the Bushes there is an improved version much better than original at "Rimmer Bros"

The original Nylastic bushes have a split nylon insert bearing surface, modern replacements are moulded in one piece and are longer so provide better support for the inner column.

In it I have explained my method, using a threaded bar to pull the bushes in. The standard method is to knock them in using a hammer and some form of drift. Use whichever way works for you,

As you're new here can I also suggest that you make use of the "bookmark topic" function that is at the bottom of each page. I have found it to be really helpful to save various topics for future access when it came to doing various tasks. You can then find them under "manage bookmarks" within your "forum profile". Apologies if you've already worked this out for yourself.
