Thinking about the Plus 2 headlights, it occurred to me that since LEDs don't require anywhere near as much lens-area as incandescent types to deliver their light, in theory one could replace the pods with clear covers with some sort of LED-setup underneath. It would certainly add lightness, what with no glass bits and no lifting mechanisms. Of course it wouldn't look as good as the painted tops of the pods, but it's an interesting idea.
