Lotus Elan

Picture of +2 in Pistachio Lime Green

PostPost by: hastu » Wed Apr 20, 2022 4:03 pm

I buyed a +2 S130 in Parts. Unfortunately the preowner startet to paint it in BRG.
On the inner side of the Roof its written "Pistachio Sil Top".
So i would like to bring the car back to his original Color. In the Internet i found only one Picture of the Car in this Colour. I would be happy to get a good Foto in high resolution of a +2 in Pistachio Lime Green with Silver Top.
Thanks in advance

Pistachio Green was not an especially popular colour, even when the cars were new. Very few Plus 2s were produced in Pistachio Green with Silver roof. I also suspect that those few may have been re-sprayed in a different colour in the intervening years.

In it's 1971 Annual Report & Accounts Lotus had a photo of what I assume is a Pistachio & Silver Plus 2, which I attach. The photographic reproduction does not do the colour justice. I say assume because Lotus dallied with a number of different green hues around 1972/73, all of which are tricky to pin down, as not many examples were made. However, since this Annual Report was produced in spring 1972 I hope it is what you are seeking.

I have no doubt that you will have already found plenty of Elans in Pistachio over White and which give you a better idea of the effect the colour has!

I agree I have not seen many Plus 2 in Pistachio. it is much more popular (and one of my favourite colours) for Elans.
The picture certainly does not do the colour justice.
If you want to have a very distinctive and eye catching car. Pistachio is a good choice.

This really seems to be a rare color. The picture above I had also already found on the Internet, but unfortunately no nice pictures with high resolution. I would still be happy to receive more pictures of a Pistachio.
The body of my +2 goes tomorrow to the painter, i am of course curious about the result and will post a picture as soon as possible. I

That is great! Enjoy putting her back together!

Berni
Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Andy from Lotus Heritage informs me that 10% of Plus 2’s after 1970 left the factory painted in Pistachio !! Beautiful colour on this car and really current again.
