Hi,

Having problems trying to start elan plus2 after rolling road set up and now need some help.

After rolling road tune up last year, about a week after car started fine but haven't been able to start since, just turns over but doesn't fire up. Also fitted a new starter but keeps sticking, turned over a couple of times, now just clicks. I've checked battery and all good and charged (although before starter stopped NEG lead kept getting warm).
Checked all plugs and all spark fine, got fuel coming through, so a bit stuck now and looking to try and find a decent mechanic to have a look.
any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I used Tom New of New Techniques, based in Bishops Waltham. My issue turned out to be a simple fix, but he showed me round the workshop which had two twin cams being rebuilt.

Check points gap.
Mine struggled to start with erratic engine turnover.
Ignore if you have electronic ignition.

Steff at Analogue Automotive in Petersfield is a great bloke and fantastic mechanic, but he generally deals with Elise type Lotus'.
He did have a lovely Alfa in which was on webers so I doubt a twinky would cause alarm.
