Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

A friend of my wife’s is driving back from FL and saw this Elan, taking pictures to show me as she knows I’m a Lotus fanatic. Anyone on this forum?

Where did she see it? That raises my count of Plus 2s in Georgia:

That said, I just looked in the Lotus Ltd roster and found that there are TWO Plus 2s in Chatham, a '68 belonging to Thomas R. in Pooler and a '72 S130 belonging to Kevin I. in Savannah. There is also a '70 S belonging to James E. of Cairo (pronounced 'KAY-ro'), which is in Grady County down in southwestern GA, of all places (it's a small town in the middle of nowhere).

So that brings the Georgia Plus 2 count to SEVEN! I'm really surprised, especially given how many are in smaller cities. I'm in the suburbs of Atlanta and Clark M. is not terribly far outside Atlanta, but the Savannah area isn't really all that large and neither is Augusta, near where Mike is.

Funny how that goes. With a combined population of 50k ish the 2 towns around me have 3 elans that I know of.

Back in the 70s I was selected to be one of ten engineers to take a special course in air quality management given by the University of Southern California. None of us knew one another, so on day one we went around the table and introduced ourselves. One of the other guys also drove an Elan. So 20% of that population were Elan drivers. It blew me away.

A scan of the Lotus Elan Registry shows 7 black +2 in USA but none were in Georgia. Maybe someone relocated or more likely - not in the Registry.
