Yes that looks lovely, the Healey 3000 colour is not a million miles away and a metallic.

My Plus 2 is a v close approximation to Lagoon Blue but with a metal flake metallic white roof. IMHO the Plus 2 looks great with a contrasting roof although I must admit I?d prefer silver to the white....

Roman purple metallic? looks even better in the flesh. Could be contentious though!

There is now good progress on my car, as of last week it was epoxy sprayed, colour is still undecided except to say I want to avoid darker colours. I was wondering about a light gold, please don?t make the rude comments too rude!

The mention of Austin Healey metallic blue sounds really good to me. I think the colour would suit the Plus 2. I personally prefer the roof in body colour, particularly with a metallic main colour.

I was searching around to find some AH pictures to refresh my memory, and came across this forum thread that discusses some modern equivalent paints.

https://www.ahexp.com/forum/the-3000-fo ... ic.170236/

There seem to be various shades of Austin Healey Ice Blue Metallic on the ?net. How different the paint is from one car to another is hard to tell. I have a Salmon Silver BMW (code 203, Lachssilber), which is a similar metallic blue/gray and it is very difficult to represent fully in online pictures. The paint changes character a lot depending on the light, which is very cool on the car.

Regarding the gold colour suggestion, sometimes one is better off with everyone?s second choice. :D

All the best on your final choice.

Stu

PS After spending weeks discussing various shades of red with my partner, we landed on GM Bright Red that our experienced Corvette painter suggested. He liked using a common Corvette colour as he could formulate for fibreglass easily. I really like that I can get touch up paint very easily from any auto parts supplier.

After some thought, I decided that mine is going to be Jaguar blue (the same colour as emma peel's elan).
I hope that helps with your decision.

That's the one. I was going with silver but saw one in a Lotus elan book in this colour and decided it was the one for me. I am thinking of going for a dark blue leather interior with oatmeal highlights and piping.

Yes, I was thinking that dark blue leather would compliment that body colour. If you look at google images for that colour there seems to be a lot of variation, some seeming lighter/darker.
My body shell has had a fair bit of work done to it, so I had to bond on a new front end and then make good 50 years of minor body damage. The paint shop say to me that these various sections/repairs will behave differently when hot, so although they will ensure panels have no ripples when they finish with it, they say that you could see differential expansion of these sections on a very hot day (like today) and hence very minor imperfections in the paintwork. Are they correct in saying this, well I don?t know, but I could imagine it could be true. For this reason they suggest I steer clear of darker colours if possible.

If that genuinely was the case, I would be tempted to not go for a metallic colour as you may find that the paint goes funny. Probably wouldn't though.
It would be funny if we ended up with cars that looked the same

I'm a bit biased but i really do like Jaguar opalescent silver blue.

Thats said the pale gold looks really good on the +2.

One thing i'd suggest if you do go for a lighter met blue is lay the base down with the panels on or you run the risk of the panels being off shade (opalescent colours, especially light blues are very sensitive to gun angle and pressure changes etc) it's really common on e-types and it spoils a good rebuild for me.

eg. darker blue but same opalescent effect.

Another decision is the roof. There aren?t many with the silver metal flake resprayed. It is pricey but the look is unbelievable. I had the same drama trying to chose a colour.

I stumbled across this, chrome orange. Sprayers say it?s a more complex colour to spray, they?re pricing it up for me.

That looks good, I notice your wheel to wheel arch gap is small, what setup do you have?
