Hi, Have any +2 owners found his book useful for day to day running?

I am not restoring/rebuilding just wondered if it would be worth the cost, I already have the factory manual.

Regards John

John,

There are so many common parts and issues, I would say definitely.

I would think this book more of use for restoring (lots of photos, useful esp. if one is after missing parts and aims at giving back originality to his car) than for day to day use (the manual describe the service procedures). Disclaimer: I have the first edition only and base the above opinion on that and not on the latest edition.

John,

I have the original version and have used it often when working on my Plus 2 or simply trying to understand how various parts of the car work or how they are supposed to work. The pictures of components are of very high quality. I recommend it highly for Plus 2 as well as Elan owners.

John.
I did a complete restoration of my 1968 +2 and I had the first addition that I made good use of.
But if you?re not doing a restoration; then other books, assuming you do not have them; would be a better use of your cash.

1) Lotus Plus Two Workshop Manual.
2) Lotus Plus 2 Service Parts Manual.
3) Lotus Twin Cam Engine by Miles Wilkins

Have a look around the Forums Wiki, found at the top, lots of useful info.

If you have cash to spare, then the 2nd addition would be a good purchase as its got lots of useful information and photos which are very useful for a +2 owner. :D

Thanks for the reply TeeJay, I already have the Workshop Manual and Miles Wilkins book.

I would like the Parts Manual but a new one is more expensive than the Buckland book which I think would be more useful and an Interesting read?

The parts manual is in the Wiki as mentioned above. Listed under 'shop floor'.

I can't comment about plus 2 applicability as I have an elan, but I found the Buckland book a very interesting and useful read, so would recommend it for that reason alone.

Also RD Enterprises' website has a pretty decent parts-lookup, although I'm not sure which version of the manual it is based on.
