Hi Steve,
could you tell me what do you mean by uprated Servo :?
The Brakes on a +2 are already light and can lock the front Wheels easy in the wet.
cheers
Alan

I can lock mine in the dry with no servo if I stab them sharply enough.

EDIT: I did switch to a smaller-diameter master cylinder after removing the servos.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your post.

I think the original servo gave a 3:1 boost ratio. I sent my unit to past parts who informed me that the unit provided appeared to be similar to the one fitted to a Rover P6. The choice was, track down a servo for an Elan plus 2 or refurb the unit they had from my car. Consequentially the boost ratio is 4.25:1.

My theory was that, bearing in mind the performance of the rebuilt engine, that additional stopping power might be a good option. I appreciate that at slower speeds caution will be needed in terms of stamping on the brake pedal but I also concluded that over time the sensitivity needed to operate safely would be learned.

Having said all this, I am learning all the time and if more knowledgeable people than myself advise me otherwise I will track down the correct part. I am always prepared to listen to good advice.

Thank you for your engagement with the topic.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi all,

As suggested, some updated photos on the body.

After the polyester coating is applied microscopic pin holes can be seen, impossible to see before the polyester is applied. As the polyester is dense it doesn't flow into the smaller holes but they are clearly visible when coated and can be marked and filled and flatted.

Please tell me if you get fed up with this constant barrage of photos, it's just that I was asked to post for others to see. I will try and get some of the strip down photos on here when I get the time.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi Ned,

Some more updated photos from this week.

I know the underside and engine bay, boot and arches should be black but I am not keeping the car original in any way. Trying to get myself the car I want for touring Europe not for shows or purity value.

Kind regards

Steve

Yep,

Kermit Green was the only match I could get for "Pistachio Lime Green".

Thinking of fixing the headlights in the upright position and sticking a tongue out of the grill.

It's a good job real life colour isn't the same as camera colour.
