Roman Purple Elan +2S 130/5

Jon B,

Some pics of my +2 as requested. The colour on my car is slightly deeper than original. Lotus Cars actually repainted it for me in 1982 and this is how it came out. The colour was introduced late in +2 production in Oct/Nov 1973 so you will only see it on the last cars bearing in mind +2 production ceased around January/February 1974. The Europa Special was also available in this colour.

Lovely,it brings out the best in a +2,only surpassed by a type 14 in any colour.

I think the purple complimented the oatmeal ambla trim. Same for the Europa Special.

Yes, it's really scrummy looking. I like the pin stripe, gold isn't it?

I think I'm right in saying Lotus introduced the gold pin strip when they stopped painting the roofs silver. It was of course, on the limited edition JPS +2s too.

Looks great, quick question on the trim strips on the cill below the door, do they have any finishing bits in the ends of the trim?
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!

Jim, Ford often changed their colours slightly over the years they were being used. I've seen the discussions on Purple Velvet Escort 1300E repainting where folks have discovered 3 different shades of the colour, ranging from a pale metalics to (probably) the colour you have. To my mind it looks all the better for being the darker shade.
