Sylvia Anderson's Elan

I was watching an documentary about Gerry Anderson the other day, and Sylvia Anderson was apparently another celebrity Lotus owner I had not been aware of.

Here she is in a lovely metallic red car, off the road a long time according to the registration, possibly too long to resurface unless its gone abroad perhaps?

Excuse if this has been discussed before but it's new to me.

That's vaguely reminiscent of a Spectrum Patrol Car.

Especially the front wings.

I saw this footage a few years ago on a BBC doc about the 1970's, never realised it was Sylvia Anderson!

SAR 900J is a Chelmsford registration from August 1970, last taxed in 1989.

SAR 120D was a press Elan. SAR 857D was used on an Europa road test. Perhaps that is where we have seen SAR in the past. There was a Plus 2 that featured in one contemporary road test, registered WAR 551J and another Plus 2 press car registered YVF 900J.

Of course, in November 1967 Lotus had moved to Hethel and the majority of press and test cars carried Norwich registrations.

My Scimitar GTE has a SAR ***J registration from August 1970. I first bought it in 1972 from the first owner, sold it in 1979 and bought it back as a "barn find" wreck in 2003. It is now fully restored. But....it was first registered in Hemel Hempstead which is where the SAR registrations were located I was led to believe.j
Confirmed that SAR was a Hertfordshire registration up to 1974 and then Chelmsford thereafter

Oooh! I didn't watch UFO as I couldn't get into it at the time. That crease along the front wing. And the door being held open with a broomstick, very Lotus.

As an aside, there is a new Thunderbirds TV series. It?s actually very good as it?s a mix of cgi and good old fashioned models. The joys of having young kids. I get to supervise tv time! My son is inseparable from his Tracy Island.

A friend of mine is sorting through her late uncles house and has uncovered this SAR 900J buried in a garage, true condition unknown, can someone help us understand if this has any value?
