Progress on 1969 # 0964

PostPost by: JGeezer » Thu Feb 16, 2017 7:10 pm

I thought I'd break the winter gloom by sharing my work-in-progress. Actually running OK, sorting out minor bugs and getting those last interior fiddly bits. Still working on the brake boosters, front is OK, almost there! I pretty much did everything myself except the valve job, paint spray, powdercoat here and there, and stretching the new cover over the dash pad.

OK, not proper yellow, but I just love this shade on it.

Looks very good.

I spy a none standard Dual master cylinder (? by angle of reservoir), dual circuit warning switch, the brake servos (obviously) and a k&n cone filler.

Good eye spotting that K&N! I thought the dual MC was proper, I'll have to look into that. Original servos were pretty bad, but I found some rebuild kits, and hope to be able to keep the Girlings. Front is good, have to try again (well, for a third time) with the rear.

Thanks! Trying to decide if I should share the source of the color. Embarrassing. Uh, really cheap Asian brand... but a cool name, "Tweety Yellow".

J, the brake master looks to be a Triumph part - Spitfire/GT6 - my car came with one. Worked well. The slant on the reservoir didn't affect the performance for me.

You're obviously very close. Good for you. Keep this summer clearly in your mind . . .

Randy

That was my first thought, but I bought one for mine and the outlets we're in the other side and wouldn't fit in my rhd car.

Are those the original girling boosters? I've never seen any as missing on my car.

Well you're going to have to confess after that teaser surely?

They are - They're the Girling MKIIA, which were fitted to early Plus 2's
